Title EPA Invests $15.7 Million in Southern California PFAS Projects to Protect Water Resources
Introduction LA Testing offers drinking water, groundwater, wastewater, soil, and food testing services to detect PFAS and other contaminants and help entities comply with health and safety regulations.

Huntington Beach, California, October 23, 2026

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced $15.7 million in funding for seven projects across Southern California to address contamination from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly known as “forever chemicals.” The investments will support groundwater treatment improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and other efforts to reduce PFAS contamination in drinking water supplies and protect public health. The funding builds on additional federal investments aimed at helping California communities address PFAS and other emerging contaminants in water systems.

PFAS are a large group of manufactured chemicals used for decades in industrial processes and consumer products because of their resistance to heat, water, and oil. Since these compounds persist in the environment and can accumulate over time, they have become a growing concern for water providers, regulators, businesses, and communities across California and the nation. EPA officials stated that the newly funded projects will help advance practical solutions to water contamination challenges while strengthening long-term water quality protections.

As regulatory requirements and public awareness surrounding PFAS continue to increase, comprehensive testing remains essential for identifying contamination sources, evaluating treatment effectiveness, and demonstrating compliance.

LA Testing provides laboratory services for the analysis of PFAS in drinking water, groundwater, wastewater, surface water, soil, food products, and other environmental samples. The company’s California laboratories also test for a broad range of chemical and microbial contaminants, including metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), bacteria, pathogens, and other water quality indicators.

“Accurate laboratory testing is essential for understanding water quality and supporting informed decisions that protect public and environmental health,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “Our laboratories are committed to providing reliable analytical services that help clients identify contaminants, assess risks, and meet regulatory requirements.”
