EPA LEVEL II

This is a Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) method that is divided into three levels of analysis. Each level of analysis entails an increasing amount of analytical effort.  A level I analysis is for screening large numbers of samples.  A level II analysis is for regulatory action or compliance (this level of analysis is very similar to the AHERA protocol).  And a level III analysis is designed for confirmatory analysis of controversial samples.

 

 

Level I:  Morphology and visual SAED pattern recognition

 

Level II:  Morphology, Visual SAED, elemental analysis

 

Level III:  Morphology, visual SAED, some zone axis SAED and elemental analysis
