SUPERFUND EPA 540-R-97-028(Dust Generation Method)

This method provides results acceptable for risk assessment studies. Soil and/or bulk material is sieved and then gravimetrically tracked through separation into course and fine fractions. The fine fraction is tumbled in a sample elutriator and any dust / fibers (asbestos and others) liberated into the air within the tumbler are collected on air cassettes for subsequent TEM analysis (typically using ISO counting rules).
