Huntington Beach, California, June 8, 2026
Each June, organizations across California and the United States observe National Safety Month, a campaign launched in 1996 by the National Safety Council (NSC) to promote safer workplaces and communities. The annual initiative encourages employers and employees to identify hazards, strengthen safety programs, and reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.
The four weekly themes for National Safety Month 2026 include moving safety forward, staying safe on the road, promoting holistic worker safety, and preventing slips, trips, and falls. These topics highlight some of the most common workplace risks and emphasize proactive strategies to protect workers in all industries.
In California, workplace safety is governed by the California Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1973, which established the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA). The agency develops and enforces workplace safety standards while providing education, training, and outreach to help employers maintain safe and healthful working conditions throughout the state.
“Effective environmental, health, and safety programs are critical to protecting California’s workforce and meeting Cal/OSHA requirements,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, California reported 419 fatal occupational injuries and more than 344,400 nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses as recently as 2024. Each of these incidents represents a real person, which is why LA Testing strongly supports the goals of National Safety Month.”
LA Testing provides a wide range of industrial hygiene and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) services designed to help identify and control workplace hazards. The company offers laboratory testing and analysis for chemical, microbial, and radiological contaminants, along with sampling supplies, test kits, monitoring instruments, personal protective equipment, and building inspection tools. These resources help organizations strengthen their safety programs while supporting compliance with regulatory requirements.
