Title Air Quality Awareness Week 2026 Highlights Critical Resources to Identify Airborne Pollutants in California
Introduction LA Testing delivers comprehensive air quality solutions, from laboratory testing services to protective equipment, to help safeguard indoor and outdoor environments.

Huntington Beach, California, May 6, 2026

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in partnership with organizations including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has announced that May 4–8 marks Air Quality Awareness Week (AQAW) 2026. This annual initiative encourages communities across the country to stay informed about air quality and make daily decisions that protect their health, starting with regularly checking the Air Quality Index (AQI).

Each day of AQAW 2026 spotlights a key theme designed to educate and empower the public:

  • Monday – Wildland Fires and Smoke
  • Tuesday – Asthma and Your Health
  • Wednesday – Indoor Air Quality
  • Thursday – Air, Animals, and Plants
  • Friday – Air Quality Resources

“In California, wildfire smoke affects most residents at least once a year,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “What many people don’t realize is that smoke doesn’t stay outdoors. It can infiltrate homes and workplaces, significantly impacting indoor air quality and aggravating respiratory conditions such as asthma.”

LA Testing’s network of industrial hygiene and environmental laboratories is proud to support AQAW’s mission by providing reliable, science-based solutions to identify and mitigate airborne hazards. Their services include comprehensive indoor and outdoor air laboratory testing, along with access to sampling supplies, user-friendly test kits, advanced monitoring instruments, and high-quality respirators and other personal protective equipment.

To further raise awareness, LA Testing previously sponsored an educational video highlighting the importance of Air Quality Awareness Week, which remains available at: https://youtu.be/XRzwmVzZspE
