Huntington Beach, California, December 1, 2025 Millions of students and hundreds of thousands of teachers attend California’s public and private schools each year. To help schools create healthier learning environments, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated guidance in 2024 outlining everyday practices that can reduce the spread of infections in K–12 classrooms. The CDC highlights five key action items schools can adopt: Improving indoor air quality Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting regularly Promoting proper handwashing Encouraging good respiratory etiquette Staying current with recommended vaccinations Cleaner air, in particular, can help lower the transmission of respiratory illnesses.
