For 2024, Safe + Sound Week takes place in California and across the nation from August 12th through the 18th. The annual week of recognition has been described by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a nationwide event to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs to systematically find and fix hazards in the workplace.
A safe work environment is critically important because although the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that the rate of worker deaths and reported injuries in the United States has decreased over the past several decades, thousands of workers are still killed on the job and millions more suffer job-related injuries or illnesses each year.
OSHA promotes the fact that safety and health programs help businesses:
