Title LA Testing Educates California Residents about Fungal Pathogens
Introduction LA Testing offers mold and indoor air quality (IAQ) testing services to help identify contaminants in homes, schools and commercial buildings.

Garden Grove, CA, June 10th, 2013

Fungi, commonly known as mold, are a natural part of the environment and play an important role in the ecosystem.  However, some types of fungi can cause serious infections in some people.  This is particularly true in people with a weakened immune system.

There are a number of types of fungi that cause disease and some of these fungi are commonly associated with water damaged properties that have mold contamination issues.  People living, going to school or working in these environments may be at risk of diseases caused by these fungal pathogens.

To help educate people across California, LA Testing has sponsored a two part online video series describing common fungal pathogens. The videos discuss over a dozen diseases and the types of fungi that cause them.  They include Aspergillus, Coccidioides, Fusarium, Cladosporium and a host of others.

“Fungal pathogens can be a risk to anyone, but the very young, elderly and those with a weakened immune system are especially at risk when exposed,” reported Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Garden Grove facility. “At LA Testing we do everything we can to educate people about the potential hazards these fungi can cause people.  We also offer testing services so that these pathogens can be identified in air, surface, bulk and water samples to prevent people from needlessly being exposed to them.”
